Nothing Mystic About This History Play...
No that's not Lucius Malfoy (if only), it's one many looks I sported in an original one act history play entitled Captain of Color, performed at the Mystic Seaport Museum! The play follows the life and times of Paul Cuffe, the black merchant sailor and abolitionist who contributed heavily to the relocation of freed American slaves back to Africa. With one other actor playing the title role, I had to play a whopping 11 different characters, switch between 4 different accents,

Finding Shades of Grey in Black & White Tea Room
I just wrapped a 3 performance run of Black and White Tea Room, the english translation of a Korean play that's been performed all around the world for the last 8 years (including Edinburgh Fringe 4 years in a row!). The play, written and directed by Cha Hyun Suk (or Ray as I know him), centers on an ex-cop turned life counselor named Nicholas Black (played by me) who is confronted by the sins of his past when a disturbed individual arrives seeking his guidance. It was a whir

Jeezum Crow! Almost, Maine in Backyard, NYC
Recently had the privilege of playing Dave in "Seeing The Thing" as part of The Drama Company NYC 's production of Almost, Maine by John Cariani, directed by Sara Laursen . While we weren't able to have a physical audience for obvious reasons and had to pre-record the performance for virtual release, it was still a real pleasure getting to collaborate in the flesh again, especially on a show as well done as this one and after a year of nothing but "Zoom theatre" (which could

Enter "Alfred the Great" @ Winterfest 2020
Thrilled to be playing Alfred the Great in the new play "Sarah's Rapture" written by Paul K. Smith and directed by Lauren Shields , which performs January 9th, 10th, and 12th as part Hudson Guild's annual play festival Winterfest . I've thoroughly enjoyed researching and playing the 9th century English king and have gotten to flex my RP (standard English accent) to boot! Oh and did I mention I have an axe?

Showcases in 3 Places!
For those of us eligible to work in the U.S., the last leg of our LAMDA journey involved showcase performances in NY and LA in which we each got to perform a 3 min. duologue with a partner. Luckily for me, I was able to do 2 scenes: one as Ariel from Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman and the other as Benji in Amy Herzog's short play Christmas Present. We kicked off the first week of our tour with 4 performances at the incredible Playwrights Horizons in NYC and enjoyed several Q

Hamlet (dir. by Michael Attenborough) - The Play's the Thing...
Today we opened Hamlet in repertory at LAMDA, directed by none other than world-renowned director Michael Attenborough! As our final show of the MA in Classical Acting, this has been our opportunity to apply everything we have learned in our studies this past year. And apply we have, and with great aplomb! It has been an absolute pleasure and honor to delve into the role of Hamlet, and though this might seem obvious to anyone with an appreciation for Shakespeare or this play,

Stap My Vitals, The Relapse was a Blast!
I've never had more fun with a character than I did with Lord Foppington in our performance of The Relapse by John Vanbrugh at LAMDA. While it was merely a workshop performance as part of our MA in Classical Acting, and therefore significantly cut down, I still got the opportunity to tap into an extremely unique, challenging, and utterly enjoyable role. There's nothing quite like being given permission to be as big as you want, because once you fop, the fun don't stop...
